NADRA 2025 B-Form rules: New biometric, iris scan requirements for children [Fee Details]

21 June, 2025 15:02

NADRA has made important changes to the National Identity Card (NIC) Rules, 2002, especially for the Child Registration Certificate (CRC), commonly known as the B-Form. These updates take effect immediately and follow the instructions of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, according to an official press release.

One of the major changes is that parents must now register their child’s birth with the Union Council before applying for a B-Form. This step is now mandatory.

The rules also include updates based on the child’s age:

  • Children under 3 years old: No need to provide biometric data or a photo.

  • Children aged 3 to 10: A photograph is required, and if possible, an iris scan too.

  • Children aged 10 to 18: Biometric data is mandatory. This includes fingerprints, a photo, and iris scan.

Every child will now receive their own B-Form, which will be valid for a specific time period.

These changes aim to make identity records more accurate and help in stopping illegal registrations and child trafficking.

B-Form Fee Update

The fee for getting a B-Form also remains simple:

  • Normal fee: Rs 50 with a 7-day processing time

  • Executive fee: Rs 500 with 1-day processing time

Parents are advised to follow these new rules and complete birth registration at their Union Council before applying for their child’s B-Form.
