Monsoon Downpours Disrupt Life in Punjab, KP

Monsoon rains continue in various cities of the country. Six people were killed and 25 injured in various incidents during the rains in Punjab.

A tragic incident occurred during the rains in Chunian Tehsil of Kasur district, where two girls died when a roof collapsed, while in Bahawalnagar, a 4-year-old child died when the roof of a mud house collapsed.

Winds and heavy rains caused feeders in many areas to trip, causing power supply to be suspended, and low-lying areas were also flooded.

Heavy rain also fell in Lahore, with the highest rainfall recorded in Nishtar Town at 45 mm. The heavy rain caused power feeders to trip in many areas.

Rains made the weather pleasant in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, but the Islamabad High Court building, which was built at a cost of billions of rupees, started leaking in the rain just two years after its construction.

Thunderstorms also occurred in North Waziristan, Mardan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In South Waziristan, the roof of the Jama Masjid collapsed due to yesterday’s torrential rain, and some houses and shops were also damaged.

Thunderstorms are expected in various cities of Sindh, including Karachi, from today until June 29.
