Muharram Moon Ashura Observed
Islamabad: The crescent moon marking the beginning of Muharram-ul-Haram, the first month of the Islamic calendar, has been sighted in Pakistan.
With the sighting of the moon, the Islamic New Year 1447 AH has officially begun. This sacred month holds great significance for Muslims around the world, especially as it commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S) and his companions in the historic Battle of Karbala.
10th Muharram (Ashura) will be observed in Pakistan and other Asian countries on Sunday, July 6 2025 (10 Muharram 1447 AH). In many Arab and Western countries, it will fall on Friday, July 5, 2025
Religious gatherings, majalis, and processions will take place across the country with strict security arrangements. Scholars will highlight the message of sacrifice, justice, and truth embodied in the legacy of Imam Hussain (RA).
Authorities have urged citizens to observe the month with respect, unity, and peace.
