Pakistan Welcomes Iran-Israel Ceasefire, Reaffirms Support for Regional Peace
Islamabad – Pakistan has officially welcomed the ceasefire between Iran and Israel, calling it a major step toward peace in the region. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made the statement during a federal cabinet meeting held at Parliament House, Islamabad, on Thursday.
The Prime Minister said Pakistan had strongly supported Iran during the conflict and would continue to back all diplomatic efforts for peace and stability in the region.
The cabinet reviewed the national and regional situation, especially the end of the 12-day war between Iran and Israel. Ministers expressed satisfaction over the de-escalation and praised Pakistan’s timely response.
The cabinet passed a resolution praising Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Field Marshal Asim Munir, and Deputy PM Ishaq Dar. Their efforts were praised for keeping Pakistan’s national interest secure and pushing for peace through diplomacy.
The ministers said Pakistan’s message was clear: support peace, condemn aggression, and stand by regional allies, especially Iran.
The cabinet also discussed updates from the National Security Committee (NSC). The NSC had earlier met to examine how the conflict in the Middle East might affect Pakistan’s security and foreign policy.
On the economy, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb presented revised tax reforms and changes to the Finance Bill. These changes aim to strengthen Pakistan’s economy and promote fiscal responsibility. The cabinet approved the proposals.
In another important move, the cabinet gave the Petroleum Division the power to decide the petroleum levy. Officials believe this will make fuel pricing more transparent and stable.
The federal cabinet urged the international community to prevent further conflicts in the Middle East. They called for solutions through dialogue and diplomacy, not war.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif repeated Pakistan’s promise to promote peace, support the oppressed, and follow a foreign policy based on dignity, justice, and principle.
