Rain Turns Karachi Streets Into Rivers — Power Outages Reported

KARACHI: Several areas of Karachi experienced light to heavy rain on Wednesday, bringing a mix of relief and disruption across the city.

Rainfall was recorded in Malir, Gulshan-e-Hadid, Memon Goth, Shah Latif Town, Razzaqabad, Bhains Colony, and nearby localities. North Karachi, Manghopir, and North Nazimabad received heavy showers with thunder and lightning.

Other affected areas included Sharae Faisal, Saddar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Steel Town, Pipri, Port Qasim, Ghaghar Phatak, and the surroundings of Kathore, Gadap, and the M-9 Motorway. The airport vicinity also witnessed intense rain.

Elsewhere in Sindh, various cities faced a combination of rainfall and dust storms. In Hyderabad, areas such as Qasimabad, Latifabad, Thandi Sarak, and Auto Bahn Road reported rainwater accumulation on roads.

In Sukkur and surrounding regions, over 60 power feeders tripped, leading to major electricity outages.

Mirpurkhas, Matiari, and nearby areas saw strong winds followed by light to moderate showers, turning the weather pleasant. In Sanghar and its outskirts, a dust storm followed by heavy rain was reported.

Shikarpur also witnessed dust storms, which disrupted traffic flow on the National and Indus Highways. In Tando Allahyar, heavy rain with strong winds was recorded.

In Tando Muhammad Khan and nearby rural areas, strong winds damaged several mud-house rooftops.
