Bilawal Welcomes Arbitration Court Decision on Indus Waters Treaty

28 June, 2025 17:26

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has welcomed the decision of the International Court of Arbitration on the Indus Waters Treaty.

In a statement issued on the microblogging website X, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the attack on the Indus is unacceptable, and the arbitration court’s decision has also confirmed that there is no room in international law for a unilateral Indian decision on the Indus Waters Treaty.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari says that the International Court of Arbitration has declared that no party has the right to make a unilateral decision on the Indus Waters Treaty.

It should be noted that the International Court of Arbitration (PCA), supporting Pakistan’s position, has declared India’s announcement of temporary suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty illegal and ruled that India cannot unilaterally stop the ongoing arbitration under the Indus Waters Treaty.

This decision has been issued in a case filed by Pakistan against hydroelectric projects on India’s western rivers (Indus, Jhelum, Chenab).
