The suspension of 26 members of the Punjab Assembly has left the opposition in a new predicament. The opposition’s authority to issue a requisition to convene an assembly session has also been lost.
According to sources in the Assembly Secretariat, after the suspension of 26 members, the number of opposition members has decreased to 79. The requisition to convene a meeting requires the signatures of at least 93 members.
After the suspension of the Punjab Assembly members, the opposition will not be able to requisition to convene the assembly session.
The number of opposition members in the Punjab Assembly is 105, which has decreased to 79 after the suspension of 26 members.
