‘Apna Meter, Apni Reading’ App: How to Use and Download

30 June, 2025 12:17

The federal government has launched a new initiative titled “Apna Meter, Apni Reading” through the “Power Smart” mobile app, allowing electricity users to submit their own meter readings. This move is aimed at curbing overbilling and errors caused by delays in manual readings.

The app is especially beneficial for protected consumers—those who consume less than 200 units of electricity per month. These users currently enjoy a subsidized rate of Rs14.16 per unit. However, if their usage crosses the 200-unit mark, even due to delayed meter readings, they are shifted to a higher rate of Rs34.26 per unit. Requalifying for the subsidized rate then requires a waiting period of six months.

This issue has been a significant burden for low-usage households, who often face inflated bills due to meter reader delays. The Power Smart app aims to solve this problem by letting users take charge of their own readings.

How to Download Power Smart App?

The Power Division has introduced the “Power Smart” app under the campaign “Apna Meter, Apni Reading.”

Features and Uses

Consumers can now take a photo of their electricity meter on the designated reading date and upload it through the app. “If the user provides the reading on the designated day, then the reading taken by the meter reader will not be prioritized, and only the user-provided reading will be recorded.”

The app also allows users to track their electricity usage and billing, as well as apply for new connections and access other services.
