NADRA Announces Amnesty Programme: Fix CNIC Mistakes Now

30 June, 2025 17:42

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new amnesty programme for citizens who have incorrect details on their CNICs.

Announced on June 30, 2025, the initiative allows individuals to update their information without fear of punishment. As NADRA stated, “individuals are now encouraged to voluntarily disclose incorrect data, whether intentional or not and correct it without facing legal consequences.”

This limited-time programme offers legal protection to those who come forward to correct their identity records. The aim is to enhance transparency in NADRA’s database and ensure accurate information for all citizens.

NADRA has warned that failure to report and fix false data may result in strict legal consequences. Accurate identity records are vital for national security and for citizens to access essential public services smoothly.

To take part in the programme, people can visit any NADRA registration centre and request corrections to their CNICs.

In support of this initiative, NADRA has also reduced the CNIC delivery time from 30 days to just 15 days and introduced major improvements to the family registration certificate system, aiming to make the process faster and more efficient.

This new drive offers a valuable opportunity for citizens to fix errors and avoid penalties, while also contributing to a more reliable national identity system.
