Islamabad– Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar on Monday expressed Pakistan’s deep concern over recent events in the Middle East, condemning Israel’s β€œentirely unjustified aggression” against Iran as well as the US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities.

Speaking at the Foundation Day ceremony of the Institute of Strategic Studies in Islamabad, Dar stated that these actions mark a highly dangerous escalation and violate both the UN Charter and international law.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s consistent support for Iran’s legitimate right to self-defense under the UN Charter.

He added that Pakistan commends Iran’s constructive and pragmatic efforts to seek a negotiated resolution to the nuclear issue.

He stressed that peace in the region is unattainable without justice for Palestinians, urging the international community to intervene and halt Israeli atrocities.

Regarding the recent escalation between Israel and Iran, Dar welcomed the ceasefire and reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Iran’s right to self-defense. β€œPakistan has always supported Iran’s legal position and continues to advocate for dialogue on the Iranian nuclear issue,” he said.

He also highlighted Pakistan’s strong ties with China, describing the relationship as a β€œtime-tested friendship” and noting the growing strategic partnership amid a changing global order.

Mr. Dar observed that the world is shifting from a unipolar to a multipolar system, with Pakistan playing a β€œbalanced and independent role” in the evolving geopolitical landscape.

Ishaq Dar on India-Pakistan Conflict

urged India to reconsider its stance toward Pakistan and the broader region, emphasizing that New Delhi cannot impose its will on Islamabad through unilateral measures or aggressive actions.

Speaking at the Foundation Day ceremony of the Institute of Strategic Studies in Islamabad, Mr. Dar condemned India’s repeated efforts to escalate tensions, including alleged false flag operations and provocations along the border. He stated Pakistan has consistently responded with resolute and proportionate measures.

β€œIndia imposed aggression on Pakistan under the guise of a false flag operation, and we responded swiftly and effectively,” Dar said, referring to recent tensions following the Pahalgam incident, which he dismissed as a β€œfalse drama.”

He warned India against weaponizing water resources, stressing that the Indus Waters Treaty cannot be suspended unilaterally. β€œPakistan is committed to protecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity. India should review its policies once and for all,” he asserted.

Reiterating Pakistan’s position on Kashmir, Dar described the dispute as an internationally recognized issue that requires a peaceful resolution for lasting regional stability. β€œIndia is openly violating international laws, while Pakistan remains committed to the principle of peaceful coexistence,” he added.
