The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) provides financial help to poor families across Pakistan. If you’ve been marked ineligible in 2025, don’t worry. You can fix the issue and apply again through a simple appeal process.
Here’s how to understand the reason and what steps to take.
Why You May Be Ineligible
Many people are declared ineligible due to small mistakes or outdated data. Common reasons include:
Poverty score (PMT) is too high:
General families: Below 32
Widows/divorced women: Below 35
Disabled family: Below 37
NSER survey data not updated
Expired or unlinked CNIC
Biometric issues
You or a close family member has:
Government job
Passport with travel
Registered vehicle or property
How to Check Your BISP Status
By SMS:
Send your CNIC number to 8171. You’ll get a reply with your status.Online:
Visit the BISP 8171 portal, enter your CNIC and code to check your result.Office Visit:
Go to the nearest BISP Tehsil office with your CNIC. Ask the staff to explain your status.
Steps to Appeal and Reapply
Step 1: Gather Documents
Your CNIC
Children’s B-Forms (if any)
Proof of disability, divorce, or death (if needed)
Utility bill or income proof
Step 2: Update CNIC and Phone Info
Go to a NADRA office to fix any CNIC or mobile issues.
Step 3: Do NSER Survey Again
Visit the BISP Tehsil office and request a new survey. Give correct family and income info.
Step 4: Submit Appeal
After the survey, ask the BISP staff to submit your appeal. There is no fee.
Step 5: Wait for Result
It may take 1–2 weeks. If approved, you’ll get a message from 8171, and payments will restart.
Who Should Appeal?
Widows, divorced women, or people with disabilities
Families with low or unstable income
No land or vehicle
PMT score is low but record was wrong
Important Deadline
You must complete the re-survey and appeal before June 30, 2025 to be included in the next payment cycle.
