Islamabad announces traffic plan for 6th Muharram procession
The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has implemented a special traffic management plan for the 6th Muharram procession being held in Sector I-9 today. The arrangements aim to ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow during the religious gathering.
According to the ITP, the procession will start from Street No. 22 and conclude at Imambargah Jafriya located in I-9/1. Due to this, the entire service road in I-9/1 will remain completely closed to all types of vehicles for the duration of the event.
The police have advised commuters to use alternate routes such as IJP Road and Warsak Road near I-9 Markaz to avoid congestion.
Additionally, Street No. 18 and the service road near Imambargah I-9/1 will also be off-limits to traffic while the procession is underway.
To ease movement, alternative paths like Mangal Bazaar I-9 and IJP Principal Road have been suggested for public use.
Chief Traffic Officer Captain (R) Zeeshan Haider appealed to the public to avoid illegal parking near the procession route and instead use designated parking areas. He emphasized that cooperation from citizens is essential for maintaining peace and traffic discipline during the Muharram activities.
