Muharram processions: THESE Karachi roads will be closed for traffic from 8th to 10th Muharram
The Karachi Traffic Police (KTP) has announced a detailed traffic management plan for 8th, 9th, and 10th Muharram, including Ashura Sunday, to ensure public safety and smooth flow of vehicles during religious processions.
Main Road Closures
MA Jinnah Road will remain completely closed from Guru Mandir to Tower on all three days for security reasons.
Vehicles without a valid procession sticker will not be allowed to cross Guru Mandir Chowk.
Muharram Procession Routes
All main processions will start from Nishtar Park and end at Hussainiya Iraniyan Imam Bargah, passing through the traditional route.
Routes from Major Areas:
Nazimabad → Lasbela → Albela → Garden Jamaat Khana → Soldier Bazaar No. 3 → Numaish
Liaquatabad → Tin Hatti → Jahangir Road → Guru Mandir → Numaish
Society → Direct to Numaish via Light Signal
Gulshan/Gulistan-e-Johar → University Road → Old Sabzi Mandi → Kashmir Road → Society Light Signal → Numaish
Sabeel, niaz, or tabarruk vehicles can enter the procession route from Tower/Memon Mosque.
Alternative Routes (District-Wise)
District Central:
Nazimabad: via Lasbela Chowk → Nishtar Road → Garden
Liaquatabad: turn at Tin Hatti → Lasbela → Martin Road → Central Jail
Hassan Square: via Kashmir Road under Jail Flyover → Shahrah-e-Quaideen or through Tin Hatti → Nishtar Road → Lasbela
District East:
Sharea Faisal: use Shahrah-e-Quaideen → Society Light Signal → Kashmir Road → onward journey
Other Redirections:
From Central Jail Gate to Guru Mandir: go via Bahadur Yar Jang Road → Soldier Bazaar
From Garden Zoo to MA Jinnah Road: reroute via Uncle Saria → Gul Plaza → Coast Guard → Holy Family Hospital
Heavy Traffic Diversion
Heavy vehicles from Super Highway and Gulberg will be rerouted as follows:
→ Liaquatabad → Nazimabad Chowrangi → Habib Bank Flyover → State Avenue Road → Shershah → Maripur → back to destination
