Water is Lifeline of Pakistanis; if India Stops it, it Will be Equivalent to War: PM Shehbaz Sharif
Baku: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warned that India’s move to block Pakistan’s water supply would be seen as an act of war. He emphasized that water is a vital resource for millions of Pakistanis, and any attempt to cut it off threatens regional stability.
Speaking at the 17th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Azerbaijan, the prime minister stated that Indian actions aim to disrupt peace in the region, but the Pakistan Army has responded to provocations with courage and professionalism.
Addressing the situation in Gaza, Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the severe humanitarian crisis, describing the devastation as if humanity itself has vanished. He pointed to the ongoing famine, starvation, and Israeli attacks on aid workers. Pakistan firmly opposes oppression against innocent people anywhere in the world.
Shehbaz Sharif also drew attention to the environmental challenges threatening millions of livelihoods. He noted that Pakistan is among the top ten countries most affected by climate change, facing melting glaciers, extreme heatwaves, floods, and other issues. Despite these difficulties, Pakistan has developed a policy to confront climate change head-on.
