3 TTP militants killed in CTD operation in Lakki Marwat

At least three wanted militants linked to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed during a late-night operation in Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) said on Saturday.

The operation took place in Sarai Naurang, near Bhutani Canal, around 1 AM. These militants were wanted for several attacks on police and other law enforcement agencies.

After the operation, security forces recovered four hand grenades, Kalashnikov rifles, ammunition, and two mobile phones from the scene.

This action comes just two days after a deadly bomb blast in Bajaur’s Tehsil Khar killed five people, including Assistant Commissioner Nawagai Faisal Ismail.

Earlier this week, two other suspected militants were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Peshawar’s Shamshatoo area. Officials said the suspects were planning a major terrorist attack. A large number of weapons, ammunition, a suicide vest, and other items were seized during the raid.

Rise in Terror Attacks in May 2025

According to a report by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), Pakistan saw a slight increase in militant attacks in May 2025.

• 85 attacks were recorded in May, up from 81 in April.

• These attacks caused 113 deaths, including 52 security personnel, 46 civilians, and 11 militants.

• 182 people were injured, most of them civilians.

The report also highlighted:

• Deaths among security forces rose by 73% compared to April.

• Civilian injuries increased by 145%, showing the growing impact on the public.

Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) remained the most affected provinces, accounting for 82 out of 85 attacks nationwide.
