Ashura Being Observed Today with Reverence Across Pakistan Amid Strict Security Arrangements

Ashura is being observed today across Pakistan and around the world with deep respect and devotion. Mourners are paying tribute to the great and eternal sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS). Strict security arrangements have been made across the country on this significant day.

According to the sources, the Ashura procession has departed from Nishtar Park in Karachi following a majlis-e-aza (mourning assembly). A large number of mourners are participating. The participants will offer Zuhrain prayers at Tibet Centre on MA Jinnah Road. The procession will follow its traditional route and conclude at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar.

In Lahore, the central 10th Muharram procession that set out from Nisar Haveli is proceeding along its traditional route and is expected to reach Chowk Nawab Sahib shortly. Similarly, in Tank, the central Ashura procession has also begun and is following its customary path.

In Rawalpindi, the main Ashura procession started at 10 AM from Imambargah Ashiq Hussain. It was led by Allama Hussain of Tehreek-e-Nifaz-e-Fiqh-e-Jafaria, after the viewing of sacred relics.

In Peshawar, strict security measures have been put in place for Ashura. More than a dozen processions of Alam (flags) and Zuljanah (symbolic representation of Imam Hussain’s horse) will emerge from various imambargahs throughout the city. The first procession began at 11 AM from Koochi Bazaar’s Imambargah Agha Syed Ali Shah Rizvi.

President Asif Ali Zardari said that the tragedy of Karbala is a symbol of an eternal struggle against falsehood. He emphasized that the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) was part of a divine mission rooted in truth, justice, and seeking the pleasure of God.

In his special message, the President said that Karbala was a test of conscience, character, and the true spirit of religion. He highlighted that the profound message of Imam Hussain (AS) is to stand firm on principles and never bow before oppression and tyranny.

He added that, considering the challenges Pakistan is facing today, there is a dire need for adopting the Hussaini character as a nation. He urged the people to commit themselves to turning Pakistan into a reflection of Imam Hussain’s message of freedom and justice.

The Path of Truth Is Difficult but Leads to Eternal Success – PM Shehbaz Sharif

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the incident of Karbala teaches us that although the path of truth is difficult, it ultimately leads to eternal success. He noted that if we guide ourselves by the lessons of Karbala, Pakistan can become a welfare and self-reliant state.

In his message on Ashura, the Prime Minister said this day presents a profound example of patience, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to principles. He emphasized that the battlefield of Karbala was not an ordinary confrontation but an eternal message for all times to come.
