LESCO set to raise fees for new single-phase meters [expected charges]

The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has decided to raise the charges for new electricity connections. This will make it costlier for people to get a single-phase or three-phase meter installed in their homes or businesses.

Single-Phase Meter New Charges

The demand notice fee for a single-phase connection is expected to increase from Rs10,000 to Rs21,000.

• A standard single-phase meter will cost around Rs5,000.

• An advanced meter (AMI) may cost up to Rs16,000.
  This change comes after the government banned old static meters and announced that all power companies will now use AMI meters.

Three-Phase Meter New Charges

Last year, LESCO increased the fee for new three-phase connections:

• Previous Fee: Rs33,500

• New Fee: Rs63,450
  This is an increase of Rs29,950.

How to Apply for New LESCO Connection

Step 1: Go to the Electricity New Connection (ENC) website and fill out the online application form.
Step 2: Enter details like connection type, district, CNIC, phone number, and property details.
Step 3: Upload scanned copies of your property documents, CNIC, neighbor’s electricity bill, and an undertaking form.
Step 4: Submit the form online and print a copy of it.
Step 5: Attach all required documents with the printed form.
Step 6: Submit this complete file to your nearest LESCO office.
Step 7: LESCO will issue a demand notice after verifying your documents.
Step 8: Pay the demand notice at the specified bank and submit the payment slip back to LESCO.
Step 9: After verification, LESCO will install your electricity meter.

This increase means people in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Nankana, and Okara will now have to pay more to get new electricity connections.
