Pakistan Observes 26th Martyrdom Anniversary of Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed Today

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan today solemnly observes the 26th martyrdom anniversary of Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider, honoring his extraordinary bravery and sacrifice.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, along with the Chief of the Pakistan Air Force, Naval Chief, and Chief of the Pakistan Army, paid tribute to the heroic martyr.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), on July 7, 1999, during the Kargil War, Havaldar Lalak Jan bravely repelled enemy attacks. Despite sustaining serious injuries, he steadfastly held his position on the front line, ultimately sacrificing his life for the motherland.

The ISPR stated that the armed forces and the entire nation take immense pride in the sacrifice of Lalak Jan Shaheed and will forever remember his heroic spirit, which remains a guiding light for present and future generations.

President and Prime Minister Pay Tribute

President Asif Ali Zardari paid homage to Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider), saluting his unparalleled bravery, courage, and sacrifice. In his statement, the President said the nation honors the great hero of the Kargil War who, despite severe injuries, stopped enemy attacks and laid down his life in defense of the country.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also paid tribute on this solemn occasion, acknowledging Lalak Jan’s selfless sacrifice and fearless defense against enemy aggression. He remarked that the enemy’s attacks failed to break the morale of Havaldar Lalak Jan, whose bravery and dedication serve as an inspiring example for the younger generation. The Prime Minister emphasized that the sacrifices of the martyrs and their families are the pride of the entire nation.

The Pakistani nation continues to remember and honor the legacy of its martyrs with respect and gratitude.
