National Cybercrime Agency Takes Over Online Crime Cases

National Cybercrime Agency
ISLAMABAD: The National Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has now become officially operational and will lead all legal proceedings related to cybercrimes in Pakistan.
In a recent clarification, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) strongly denied media reports claiming that it was ordered by a court to shut down 27 Pakistani YouTube channels. A spokesperson for the FIA said that the court orders were actually issued at the request of the National Cybercrime Agency, not the FIA.
“The FIA was not mentioned anywhere in the court’s decision,” the spokesperson confirmed, emphasizing that FIA and NCCIA are two separate and independent institutions.
The spokesperson further explained that the authority to investigate and prosecute cybercrime cases no longer lies within the jurisdiction of the FIA, and that responsibility has now shifted to the newly established National Cybercrime Investigation Agency.
The statement aims to correct public misunderstanding and media reports, making it clear that cybercrime operations and legal actions will now be handled by NCCIA under its exclusive authority.
