ANP leader Maulana Khan Zeb shot dead in KP's Bajaur
Maulana Khan Zeb, a senior leader of the Awami National Party (ANP), was shot and killed on Thursday in the Shindai Mor area of Bajaur. District Police Officer Waqas Rafiq confirmed the incident and said three other people were injured in what appears to be a targeted attack.
Reports say gunmen on motorcycles opened fire on Maulana Khan Zeb while he was gathering support for a peace rally planned for July 13. Police have collected forensic evidence from the scene and launched an investigation to find the attackers.
Maulana Khan Zeb was the ANP’s central secretary for Ulema Affairs and a strong supporter of peace and unity in Bajaur. He actively worked against extremism as part of the Bajaur Peace Action Committee, collaborating with local activists and civil society groups.
Bajaur, once a hotspot for militant activities, has seen renewed calls for peace and security from residents and political leaders. Earlier this year, large rallies were held in January and February, demanding better protection and enforcement of citizens’ rights.
