At least six people, including four children, have died in rain-related incidents over the last 24 hours, while one person is injured, according to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).

Monsoon Season Warnings and Rainfall Statistics

Pakistan’s monsoon season runs from June to September, often bringing heavy rains that trigger floods and landslides, especially in vulnerable and densely populated areas.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) warns that heavy rains and thunderstorms will continue till July 17 across many parts of the country, including KP, Punjab, Balochistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Recent Rainfall Highlights

  • Kashmir, Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan also saw moderate rainfall.

  • Meanwhile, temperatures remain high in southern parts of the country, reaching up to 43°C.

Safety Alerts and Precautions

  • The PMD warns of possible flash floods in local streams and urban flooding in low-lying cities like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Faisalabad.

  • Landslides may block roads in hilly areas such as Murree, KP, AJK, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

  • Residents are urged to stay cautious and report emergencies to local authorities or PDMA’s helpline (1700).

What to Expect Next?

The weather department forecasts continued heavy rain and thunderstorms in affected regions until mid-July. The monsoon rains are critical for agriculture but come with risks of floods, landslides, and infrastructure damage.
