Aafia Siddiqui Case in SC
Islamabad: The federal government has approached the Supreme Court in the Dr. Aafia Siddiqui case, challenging the Islamabad High Court’s May 16 order.
The federal government has filed an appeal in the Supreme Court against the Islamabad High Court order.
The appeal by the federal government states that on May 16, the High Court approved the amendment to Fauzia Siddiqui’s petition, and Fauzia Siddiqui’s original petition has been implemented.
The federal government maintains that consular access has also been granted to Aafia Siddiqui.
The appeal states that the case is being prolonged due to amendments in the petition, the High Court is continuing the proceedings beyond the scope of Article 199, and the Islamabad High Court’s order of May 16 should be declared null and void.
