Roof Collapse in Lyari’s Khadda Market: Two Women Killed, Three Injured
Karachi – A tragic incident occurred near the busy Khadda Market area of Lyari, where the roof of a residential building collapsed, resulting in the deaths of two women and injuries to three others, including a young girl. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of Baghdadi Police Station.
According to SSP City Arif Aziz, the collapse happened on the fifth or sixth floor of the building, where the roof suddenly gave way. Emergency teams, including police and rescue personnel, responded swiftly to the scene and shifted the injured to Civil Hospital.
Hospital sources confirmed that the bodies of the deceased women were transferred to Civil Hospital, while the injured are being provided medical treatment.
Residents of the area have demanded that authorities conduct a survey of all hazardous buildings in the city to prevent such unfortunate incidents in the future.
Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani took immediate notice of the collapse and directed the Deputy Commissioner South and relevant agencies to intensify the rescue operation. He also requested a detailed report on the incident from the Director General of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) and the Deputy Commissioner South.
