Attempted Infiltration by Khawarij from Pak-Afghan Border Foiled, 5 Alleged Suicide Bombers Arrested

Security forces successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt by Khawarij from the Afghan border, arresting five alleged suicide bombers.

According to security sources, the infiltration attempt took place on the evening of July 17 at approximately 5:00 PM. Security forces, acting on intelligence, established blockades at five different locations along the border.

Security sources reveal that at around 6:25 PM, the Khawarij crossed into Pakistani territory and advanced towards the Aziz Khel and Mandi Khel areas. However, due to the presence of security forces, they took refuge in a mosque located in Basi Khel. Security forces swiftly cordoned off the mosque. Owing to their effective strategy, the Khawarij surrendered without resistance.

All five arrested individuals are reportedly Afghan nationals. Among them, three were carrying Afghan identification cards. The ages of the suspects range between 15 and 18 years. They have been transferred to an undisclosed location for further investigation.

Security authorities have issued alerts in the border regions and continued search operations are underway.

This is not the first such attempt. Between April 25 and 27, 2025, security forces conducted a successful operation in North Waziristan, eliminating 71 Khawarij. On July 4, 2025, another infiltration attempt by Indian-backed Khawarij resulted in the deaths of 30 militants. Similarly, on March 23, 2025, 16 Khawarij were killed during an infiltration attempt via the Afghan border.

Security sources maintain that the Khawarij insurgency, from border infiltration to terrorist activities within Pakistan, is receiving full support from India.
