NAB Takes Sweeping Action in Kohistan Corruption Case: Luxury Cars, Gold, Billions in Assets Seized
In a major breakthrough in the Kohistan corruption case, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has escalated its inquiry into a full investigation and carried out a significant crackdown on corrupt assets.
During the operation, NAB recovered and froze assets worth approximately 2.5 billion Pakistani Rupees. These assets include 77 luxury vehicles such as new models of Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Porsche, Lexus, Revo, Mark X, Land Cruiser, and Fortuner, valued at over 940 million PKR.
In addition, over 100 million PKR in cash, foreign currency, and 3 kilograms of gold were seized. The bureau also froze 73 bank accounts, from which 500 million PKR was recovered.
The operation led to the arrest of contractor Muhammad Ayub, who, during interrogation, disclosed dealings with influential individuals including Azam Swati.
NAB took control of numerous properties including 30 residential houses, 25 flats, 12 commercial plazas, 12 shops, 4 farmhouses, penthouses, and 175 kanals of agricultural land. In total, 109 properties across Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Abbottabad, and Mansehra were seized with a combined estimated value exceeding 1.7 billion PKR.
