Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senate Elections Today: 25 Candidates Contesting 11 Seats

Senate elections are scheduled today in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with 25 candidates vying for 11 seats.
Polling has started at 11 AM and will continue till 4 PM at the KP Assembly’s Jirga Hall, which has been designated as the election venue with stringent security measures in place.
The government and opposition have agreed on a seat distribution arrangement, allocating 6 seats to the government and 5 to the opposition, to avoid horse-trading.
Under this arrangement, the government fields 4 candidates for general seats, while the opposition has 3 candidates. For women’s and technocrat seats, both sides have nominated 2 candidates each.
For the government’s general seats, PTI has put forward Murad Saeed, Faisal Javed, Mirza Afridi, and Noor-ul-Haq Qadri. PTI’s candidates also include Rubina Naz and Azam Swati.
On the opposition side, PML-N’s candidate is Niaz Ahmed, PPP has Talha Mahmood, and JUI has Ataul Haq for general seats, with PPP’s Rubina Khalid and JUI’s Dilawar Khan also nominated.
