Pakistan Army, FWO Conduct Rescue Operations in Rain-Hit Gilgit-Baltistan
Gilgit-Baltistan has been severely affected by heavy rains, cloudbursts, and flash floods, which have disrupted key highways in the region.
Teams from the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) and the National Highway Authority (NHA) are actively engaged in the full restoration of the impacted roads. The Pakistan Army, FWO, and local administration continue clearing routes and removing debris along the Karakoram Highway.
Several locations between Thalichi and Chilas have been cleared, with road clearance efforts ongoing in Tatta Pani and Jalaur. However, three points on the Ghandalo Nullah remain blocked, and heavy machinery has been dispatched to support relief operations.
In Paso village, work is underway to repair the damaged road. Meanwhile, the Jaglot-Skardu road has been fully cleared and traffic restored.
