Pakistan Army Successfully Continues Rescue Operation for Tourists Stranded in Deosai
The Pakistan Army’s rescue operation to evacuate tourists stranded in Deosai is successfully underway.
According to the details, the Army has also accelerated the restoration work on the Skardu Road, with pilots and engineering teams providing full support in the rescue efforts.
The area affected by the landslide between Skardu and the Sadpara Mountaineering School has been cleared, and the route from Deosai to Sadpara village has also been opened.
Army personnel are working to clear the remaining landslides, while military units are delivering emergency rations and aid to tourists at the affected locations.
150 packs of cooked meals are being dispatched via helicopter.
Meanwhile, monsoon rains continue across various parts of Pakistan, including Islamabad and Rawalpindi, with the Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasting more showers in the coming days.
So far, 221 people have lost their lives in rain-related incidents nationwide. Heavy rainfall has led to a rain emergency in Rawalpindi, where WASA is on high alert due to rising water levels in Nullah Lai.
Narowal experienced urban flooding, and Chakwal authorities issued alerts and used mosque announcements to warn residents. Rain, thunder, and lightning are expected in Kashmir, KP, Islamabad, Punjab, and Gilgit-Baltistan, with warnings of possible landslides and flooding in mountainous and riverine areas.
