Failure to Resolve Palestine Issue Could Damage UN Credibility: Ishaq Dar
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has stated that if a solution to the Palestinian issue is not found, it could cause irreparable damage to the credibility of the United Nations.
Presiding over the UN Security Council’s quarterly debate, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said in his address that Israel’s targeting of hospitals, schools, UN installations, and refugee camps is a deliberate strategy aimed at collectively punishing the Palestinian people.
He stated that these actions are also in violation of numerous resolutions passed by the UN Security Council and the General Assembly.
He described the Palestinian issue as a test of the UN’s credibility and influence, warning that failure to resolve it could cause irreparable harm to the organization’s reputation.
Ishaq Dar urged the international community to ensure an immediate ceasefire and unimpeded access for humanitarian aid in order to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
The Deputy Prime Minister also emphasized the need to resolve the issues of Syria, Lebanon, and Iran for sustainable and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
He said the time has come to grant the Palestinian people justice, freedom, dignity, and the right to their own sovereign state.
He called on the UN Security Council to take concrete steps to protect the rights of the Palestinian people and to enhance joint global efforts toward resolving the issue.
