China lauds Pakistan Army’s contribution to South Asian peace during COAS Munir’s visit
RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir visited China on an official trip where he held several high-level meetings to strengthen the strategic relationship between Pakistan and China, according to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During his stay in Beijing, COAS met with senior Chinese leaders including Vice President Han Zheng and Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The discussions focused on regional security, global developments, and collaboration through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Both countries expressed satisfaction over their strong relationship and agreed to continue working together for mutual respect, long-term peace, and regional stability.
The Chinese leadership praised the Pakistan Armed Forces for their important role in South Asia and described them as a pillar of strength and peace.
On the military side, COAS Asim Munir met General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, and other senior officials of the People’s Liberation Army. Their discussions included topics like defence modernization, counterterrorism, joint military training, and better coordination between the two militaries. Both sides agreed on improving cooperation to deal with new types of security threats.
The Chinese military leadership expressed full confidence in the Pakistan-China defence partnership and recognized Pakistan’s crucial efforts for maintaining peace in the region.
COAS Asim Munir thanked the Chinese side for their continued support and reaffirmed that Pakistan is committed to deepening military ties in all areas. When he arrived at the PLA Army Headquarters, the COAS was given a guard of honour, reflecting the deep friendship between the two countries.
In a separate meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that the Pakistani military is a strong supporter of national interests and a key force in China-Pakistan friendship. He said that China and Pakistan will continue supporting each other on key national matters and work together to promote peace and development. Wang Yi also said China supports Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism and hopes Pakistan will keep working to ensure the safety of Chinese people and projects in the country.
COAS Asim Munir appreciated China’s long-term support for Pakistan’s development and assured that Pakistan will take all necessary steps to protect Chinese interests. He also said Pakistan is ready to boost counterterrorism cooperation with China.
This visit shows the deep and growing military and political partnership between Pakistan and China, with both countries committed to continued collaboration and peace in the region.
