PM Directs Global Experts for FBR Digital Project

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while approving the creation of a modern and world-class digital ecosystem in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), also issued instructions to engage the services of internationally renowned experts to complete the project. 

The Prime Minister said that the economy is moving in a positive direction due to the ongoing reforms of the FBR.

He said that just making the system digital is not enough, but a complete digital ecosystem should be created so that the system is effective, transparent, and compatible with modern requirements.

The prime minister emphasized that all stages of procurement, from raw material production, import, and product manufacturing to ultimately the consumer, should be linked through an integrated digital system.

He said that this system should be robust and reliable enough to enable real-time digital monitoring of the entire value chain.

Shahbaz Sharif further said that the central data collected under this system should be used in economic policy-making and strategic decision-making at the national level.

He said that the goal of reducing taxes for the common man cannot be achieved without expanding the tax net and documenting the informal economy.

These important decisions were taken at a high-level review meeting on FBR reforms chaired by the Prime Minister.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister of State for Revenue Bilal Azhar Kayani, Chairman FBR, Chief Coordinator Musharraf Zaidi, economic experts, and relevant senior officials.
