Death Toll Climbs to 291 as Rains claim More Lives

Islamabad: Two more people died in accidents that occurred during the rains in the country during the last 24 hours.
The spokesperson for the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said two children died due to drowning in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, taking the death toll in the country due to rains to 291, while 698 people were injured.
In Punjab, 158 people died and 556 were injured due to rains; in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 66 people died and 81 people were injured; while in Sindh, 28 people died and 40 people were injured due to rains.
In addition, 20 people were killed and 4 injured due to rains in Balochistan, 9 people were killed and 4 injured in Gilgit-Baltistan, 2 people were killed and 10 injured in Azad Kashmir, while 8 people were killed and 3 people were injured due to rains in Islamabad.
According to the NDMA, 102 men, 51 women, and 138 children died due to the rains, while 263 men, 199 women, and 236 children were injured. 1,584 houses were damaged, and 376 livestock were killed.
