31 July, 2025 18:13

K-Electric CEO Moonis Alvi has been found guilty of harassment and ordered to be removed from his post by the Provincial Ombudsman of Sindh. A fine of Rs 2.5 million has also been imposed on him.

Charges Proven Against Moonis Alvi

According to the Provincial Ombudsman, the allegations against Moonis Alvi were proven. “The CEO must pay the fine within one month,” the decision stated. The complaint was filed by Mehrin Zehra, a former Chief Marketing Officer at K-Electric, who accused Alvi of harassment and causing mental distress.

Further Legal Actions if Fine Not Paid

The verdict also includes strict penalties in case of non-payment. “If Moonis Alvi does not pay the fine, his movable and immovable assets will be seized. His CNIC and passport will also be blocked,” the order said.

Background of the Complaint

Mehrin Zehra had initially joined K-Electric in 2019 as a consultant. The case was heard by Justice (Retd.) Shah Nawaz Tariq, who led the inquiry and issued the final decision.

Moonis Alvi Reacts to Verdict

Responding on social media platform X, Moonis Alvi stated, “I have always upheld values of integrity and dignity in professional relationships. The recent decision is extremely painful.”

He further added, “I respect the legal process and the institutions that uphold it. However, the outcome does not reflect the reality of my experience.”
He concluded by saying, “I am reviewing the decision with legal counsel and will file an appeal. I am thankful to those who know me and continue to support me.”
