August 5: A Black Day in Kashmir’s History – Speaker PA

05 August, 2025 20:49

Lahore: Speaker of the Punjab Assembly, Malik Ahmad Khan, has said that August 5, 2019, will always be remembered as the darkest day in the history of Kashmir. On this day, India illegally revoked the special status of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which was a clear violation of international laws and United Nations resolutions.

He said that by taking this unconstitutional step, India attacked the basic rights of the Kashmiri people. The speaker added that the people of Kashmir have been suffering under illegal Indian occupation, and their fundamental human rights have been denied.

Despite the oppression, the Kashmiri people’s struggle for freedom continues with full force. Malik Ahmad Khan emphasized that the international community supports the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

He warned that India’s actions not only violate UN resolutions but also put the peace and stability of the region at serious risk. He urged the global community to play its role in resolving the Kashmir issue according to the wishes of the Kashmiri people and international laws.
