IHC Upholds Decision to Auction Malik Riaz’s Properties: Major Legal Setback for Bahria Town
Islamabad – In a significant legal development, the Islamabad High Court has upheld the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) decision to auction the properties of Malik Riaz.
A two-member bench of the Islamabad High Court, headed by the Chief Justice, was assigned to hear the auction case. The bench reserved its verdict after hearing arguments from both sides. Renowned lawyer Farooq H. Naek represented Bahria Town, while Special Prosecutor Muhammad Rafiq Maqsood appeared on behalf of NAB.
Sources confirmed that the court has declared NAB’s auction proceedings to be legal and in the public interest. All four petitions seeking to stop the auction of Bahria Town properties have been dismissed. NAB will auction Malik Riaz’s properties on August 7.
Among the properties listed for auction are two corporate offices located in Bahria Town Phase II. Additionally, Rubash Marquee and Lawn in Bahria Garden City are also included in the auction list. The Arena Cinema situated in Bahria Town Phase IV will also be auctioned.
Further assets include the building of Bahria International School located in Safari Villas I, as well as the Safari Club situated on Plot No. 27 in Bahria Town.
