Pakistan Condemns Israeli Actions, Calls for Ceasefire, Aid Access at UN Security Council
Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar called for an immediate ceasefire, withdrawal of Israeli forces, delivery of humanitarian aid, and release of prisoners.
Delivering a strong address at the UN Security Council, Asim Iftikhar emphasized that Israeli attacks have left Gaza in complete devastation and stressed that the war must end. He urged the Security Council to ensure full implementation of Resolution 2735, which, he noted, presents a comprehensive roadmap to end the conflict.
He also reminded the Council not to forget the real cause of the events of October 7, 2023, pointing out that Israel has long occupied Palestinian territory. Iftikhar asserted that Al-Quds Sharif should be the capital of a free Palestinian state, reiterating Pakistan’s firm support for the two-state solution as a path to lasting peace in the Middle East.
Concluding his remarks, Asim Iftikhar condemned the brutal and illegal Israeli war, stating that the Palestinian people continue to suffer as a result.
