Everything to Know About Karachi Yellow Line BRT Project – Check Fares & Route

Everything to Know About Karachi Yellow Line BRT Project
The Yellow Line BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) is one of Karachi’s most important upcoming public transport projects. Set to be completed by September 2025, the project is being developed by the Sindh Mass Transit Authority and funded by the World Bank.
Why Karachi Needs the Yellow Line
Karachi is one of the world’s largest and most populated cities. Its total urban area spreads over 1,500 square kilometers. Because of this, the city faces serious problems like:
Heavy traffic congestion
Long travel times
Poor air quality
High number of road accidents
Although the Green Line BRT was a big step forward, Karachi’s public transport system still remains disconnected and insufficient.
Route Details
The Yellow Line BRT corridor will cover 21 kilometers. It will start at Dawood Chowrangi and end at Numaish Chowrangi, passing through:
Korangi Road
Shahrah-e-Faisal
Shahrah-e-Quaideen
This line will mostly benefit the people living in Landhi and Korangi, as well as workers in the Port Qasim Industrial Area.
Eco-Friendly Electric Buses
The Yellow Line project will use electric buses powered by solar energy. These buses are designed to:
Reduce pollution
Cut down fuel costs
Support climate action
Promote sustainable development in Karachi
The system is expected to serve around 300,000 passengers daily.
Key Benefits
Faster and safer commuting
Lower carbon emissions
Less traffic on busy roads
Reliable transport for industrial workers
Greener and cleaner city environment
