Landhi Factory Fire Intensifies, Shocking Video Shows Employees Fleeing Dangerously

07 August, 2025 11:46

Karachi: A factory in the Landhi Processing Zone caught fire on Thursday morning. The videos from the scene show male and female workers escaping in hazardous manner as the intensity of the fire has increased.

According to fire brigade officials, the fire broke out in a second-hand clothing (Landa) factory. Authorities have classified the fire as third-degree level.

Officials report that more than eight fire brigade vehicles are currently engaged in extinguishing the blaze. Firefighters are facing difficulties in controlling the fire due to the thick smoke.

Meanwhile, Rangers have evacuated women from the nearby factories for their safety. Staff working in the surrounding factories are also facing problems because of the smoke.

While fire brigade teams focused on putting out the fire, workers were seen escaping the factory by hanging from a construction lift.

The footage reveals employees managing to get out by clinging to the lift. The factory, which is five stories high, posed a serious risk of a fatal accident during this risky evacuation.

This tragic incident once again underscores the critical absence of adequate safety protocols and government regulation in Karachi’s industrial sector, where countless workers risk their lives each day simply to earn a living.

Recent reports indicate that the fire remains uncontrolled despite ongoing efforts. The roof of the factory’s fifth floor has reportedly caved in, and seven workers have suffered burn injuries. Additionally, the fire has spread to three neighboring factories.
