US Labels BLA, Majeed Brigade as Terrorist Entities

11 August, 2025 23:37

The United States has officially declared the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and its sub-group, the banned Majeed Brigade, as terrorist organizations.

The announcement was made by the U.S. State Department, marking a strong step against terrorism in the region.

The Majeed Brigade is a militant wing operating under the BLA, which has been involved in multiple deadly attacks in Pakistan. The U.S. decision means both groups are now part of its global terrorist list, restricting their movement, funding, and operations.

According to U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, the BLA was first designated as a terrorist group in 2019 after a series of violent attacks. In 2024, the BLA claimed responsibility for suicide bombings in Karachi and Gwadar. The group also admitted to hijacking the Jaffer Express train in March this year.

The U.S. State Department stressed that this move reflects the Trump administration’s continued commitment to fighting terrorism worldwide. By targeting these groups, Washington aims to cut off their resources and reduce their ability to carry out attacks.

Pakistan has long accused the BLA of receiving foreign backing, including support from India, to destabilize the country through violence in Balochistan and other regions. The latest U.S. action is seen as a diplomatic victory for Pakistan in its fight against militancy.
