Islamabad enforces two-month ban on drones over security concerns

12 August, 2025 17:33

The Islamabad district administration has announced a two-month ban on drones and camcopters in the federal capital, citing security concerns. The prohibition, imposed under Section 144, will remain in effect until further notice.

According to the official notification, “the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is strictly prohibited,” with the exception of operations conducted by law enforcement agencies and the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration.

District Magistrate officials emphasized that drones pose a potential risk to sensitive installations and public safety. The measure has been implemented urgently “to preserve law and order,” with authorities warning that any violation of the directive will result in legal action.
