Lahore: In a significant development in the inquiry led by ASP Sharbano, former SHO of Defence B, Ali Hassan, and his team have been cleared of corruption and abuse of power allegations.

Ali Hassan was earlier suspended on charges of accepting a bribe after recovering stolen items from a Chinese citizen. Following his appeal, DIG Operations ordered SP Cantt to conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter.

SP Cantt recorded written and video statements from witnesses as part of the investigation. According to the final inquiry report, there was no evidence to support the allegation that a bribe was taken after the recovery.

The report highlighted that the Chinese citizen, satisfied with the recovery, praised the Lahore police and even gifted the team a carpet and a cash reward of Rs. 200,000. The SHO reportedly distributed the reward money among his team members immediately.

However, the report also stated that the officers did not inform their superiors about receiving the reward, which is a violation of departmental rules. As a result, the report recommended departmental action for accepting the gift without proper approval.

Despite this, the SHO and his team were cleared of corruption and abuse of authority charges. According to the spokesperson for DIG Operations, the other suspended officers will also be reinstated soon.
