Pakistan, US Reaffirm Commitment to Eliminating Terrorism in Joint Counterterrorism Dialogue
Islamabad — Pakistan and the United States have reiterated their strong commitment to eradicating all forms of terrorism, according to a joint statement released following the latest Counterterrorism Dialogue between the two countries.
The dialogue was jointly chaired by Pakistan’s Nabeel Munir and the US representative Gregory, where both sides emphasized the need to address threats posed by groups such as the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), ISIS-Khorasan, and the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The joint statement also mentioned that US praised Pakistan’s successes in counterterrorism efforts and expressed condolences over the loss of lives in attacks such as the Khuzdar school bus incident and the Jaffer Express attack.
The discussion also focused on tackling security challenges linked to the misuse of new technologies by terrorist groups. Both countries agreed on the importance of strengthening institutional frameworks and enhancing counterterrorism capacities.
Furthermore, Pakistan and the US committed to continued close cooperation within multilateral forums, including the United Nations. The statement stressed the necessity of sustained and organized communication to achieve lasting peace, stability, and the complete elimination of terrorism.
