Another Young Life Lost in Karachi Dumper Truck Accident

14 August, 2025 20:24

A young man tragically lost his life in a road accident in Karachi on Thursday morning, when a speeding dumper truck ran over two motorcyclists near the Super Highway Toll Plaza.

The incident occurred in the Gadap City area, where the dumper hit a motorcycle, killing 20-year-old Shehbaz and injuring his companion, 20-year-old Husnain. Both victims were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital by Edhi ambulance. According to Chhipa spokesperson Shahid Chaudhry, Shehbaz was the youngest of four brothers and worked in the leather gloves production industry. He lived in Korangi No. 4 (So Quarters).

This tragic accident comes just days after another dumper-related crash on Karachi’s Rashid Minhas Road, where two siblings were killed and their father injured. The incident sparked protests and traffic disruptions in the city.

In recent months, Karachi has seen a disturbing increase in traffic accidents involving heavy vehicles like dumpers and water tankers. These accidents have claimed nearly 500 lives and left thousands injured in 2024 alone, according to hospital data. The growing number of such accidents highlights the urgent need for road safety reforms in the city.
