Pakistan, Afghanistan, China to Hold Trilateral Talks in Kabul

14 August, 2025 18:04

ISLAMABAD: The foreign ministers of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and China are set to meet in Kabul on August 20 for trilateral talks, sources have confirmed to GTV News.

The meeting will include Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Afghanistan’s Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi. Key topics on the agenda will include counterterrorism cooperation and the expansion of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Earlier this month, Afghanistan’s Interim Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi had planned to visit Pakistan on August 5. However, both countries later cited “technical” reasons for the cancellation of the visit. Reports suggest that the UN Security Council did not approve the visit, as Muttaqi is still on the UN’s list of designated Taliban members.

After the Kabul meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is expected to travel to Pakistan the following day, according to the sources.
