PM Visits Under-Construction Technology Park in Islamabad

14 August, 2025 21:06

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the under-construction Technology Park in Islamabad on Thursday, where he expressed strong concerns about the slow progress of the project. The Technology Park is a major initiative aimed at boosting Pakistan’s IT sector and fostering innovation, but its development has faced delays.

During his visit, the Prime Minister was briefed on the current status of the project, including the construction of state-of-the-art facilities that are expected to support the country’s growing technology and research industry. The Technology Park is expected to provide world-class infrastructure for IT companies, entrepreneurs, and startups, making it a cornerstone for Pakistan’s future technological advancement.

However, the Prime Minister’s mood turned serious as he highlighted the concerns over the pace of construction. “The pace of work on this important project is far too slow. We cannot afford such delays, especially for a project that holds such importance for the country’s future,” said Shehbaz Sharif. He instructed the concerned officials to ensure that the construction is completed as soon as possible, in line with the original deadlines and specifications.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the Technology Park must meet global standards and provide top-tier facilities to ensure it becomes a hub for innovation, technology, and research. “It is crucial that the park offers world-class facilities that attract both local and international businesses. This park will not only support local startups but will also enhance Pakistan’s position on the global technology map,” he remarked.

In a stern message to the project managers and contractors, Shehbaz Sharif directed them to work with greater urgency. He urged all responsible authorities to step up their efforts and ensure that every aspect of the project is completed efficiently. “I expect the concerned departments to ensure the timely completion of this project with the required level of quality and professionalism. The country’s future depends on this initiative,” he added.

The Technology Park, when completed, is expected to generate employment, foster innovation, and promote collaboration between the public and private sectors in Pakistan’s technology industry. It is seen as a key step toward realizing the government’s vision of transforming Pakistan into a global IT and digital hub.

In conclusion, the Prime Minister’s visit and comments underscore the government’s commitment to advancing Pakistan’s technological capabilities and ensuring that important infrastructure projects are completed on time to benefit the nation’s economy and future growth.
