15 August, 2025 00:22

In a speech in Lahore, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar reflected on his long-standing contributions to Pakistan’s public and economic life.

“I served as President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce in 1992,” he recalled, emphasizing, “I understand the problems faced by the business community.”

Dar spoke proudly of the economic improvements during the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government, noting, “The economy has now reached a considerable level of stability.” He stressed the relentless effort required to rebuild the economy, stating, “We worked day and night to fix the economy, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif continues that effort tirelessly.”

On assuming power, Dar suggested, “Pakistan was on the brink of default.” Now, he declared, national unity and strong leadership have brought the country back on track.

Dar also extended congratulations on the success of Operation “Ma’araka-e-Haq,” declaring, “I congratulate our armed forces for shattering India’s arrogance.” He added, “During the Pakistan-India war, the nation stood united.”

Referring to the Prime Minister’s peace initiatives, Dar noted, “Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif offered transparent investigation procedures to India.” On counter-terrorism, he promised continued action: “Just as before, we will again crush terrorism.”

Discussing international affairs, he said, “When Iran was attacked, we took a firm stance,” and commented, “The world was surprised that the US might get upset, but we made it clear that friendship doesn’t mean justifying wrong.”

Closing his remarks with religious conviction, Dar observed, “By the grace of Allah, today Pakistan has been honoured. We stood for truth and justice, and Allah granted us victory.” Looking ahead, he affirmed, “The time is not far when Pakistan will become the fortress of Islam.”
