Sindh Rebuilds 800,000 Homes for Flood Victims: Sindh Minister

16 August, 2025 21:09

Karachi: Sindh Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said the provincial government is actively rebuilding homes for people affected by the devastating floods in the region.

Speaking in a GTV program, Shah said that Sindh was the most severely affected province during the floods, and the government had announced the construction of 2 million homes for victims.

“So far, 800,000 homes have been completed,” he said, adding that construction is ongoing for the rest.

Shah also highlighted the importance of the newly built Bhutto Highway, saying it will benefit the entire city.

Regarding informal settlements, he said:

“Planning has been completed for some katchi abadis, and planning for others is still in progress.”

The minister expressed concern over incidents involving building collapses, saying that people often refuse to vacate unsafe buildings even after warnings.

“In recent incidents, action has been taken against officials from the Building Control Authority,” Shah confirmed.

Shah criticized the federal government for not launching any major development projects in Karachi since 2022.

“Since then, no federal funds have been provided to the province for development,” he added.
