Punjab to Get New Roads, Better Air Quality, Clean Cities
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has sent her greetings to all those who love Pakistan and expressed her commitment to modernizing urban development in the province.
She announced plans to transform the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) into a modern urban development agency modeled after the one in Yokohama, Japan. She also invited officials from Yokohama to visit Lahore, and the team has accepted the invitation.
Maryam Nawaz said she wants Punjab’s industrial and densely populated cities to be developed following the successful example of Yokohama. She emphasized that during the previous government, relations with friendly countries were damaged, but her government has steered the country away from the brink of default and put the economy on the right track.
She praised the enthusiasm of overseas Pakistanis, comparing their support to a large public gathering in Lahore. Maryam Nawaz highlighted Pakistan’s recent successes against India and appreciated the support of overseas Pakistanis, who also raised slogans in favor of the Pakistan Army during a recent event in Yokohama.
The Chief Minister shared that the government is providing free medicines to the public and launching free surgery programs for children. Infrastructure improvements are ongoing throughout Punjab, and special efforts are being made to improve air quality and reduce smog across the province.
Maryam Nawaz criticized the previous government for not launching any welfare projects and announced the construction of Asia’s largest cancer hospital in Lahore, named after Nawaz Sharif. She said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is working tirelessly for the country’s development.
She added that new roads are being built across Punjab to facilitate the public and that efforts are underway to control crime rates. Under the “Apni Chhat Apna Ghar” scheme, easy loans are being provided to build 70,000 homes, with a target to provide shelter to 500,000 families within five years.
Maryam Nawaz also highlighted government successes in reducing inflation, increasing remittances, ending power outages, and improving cleanliness under the “Clean and Green Punjab” program.
