Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has started a three-day official visit to Pakistan, calling the friendship between Beijing and Islamabad stronger than ever. His trip aims to boost political, economic, and security cooperation between the two countries.

Wang Yi arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday, where he was warmly welcomed at Nur Khan Airbase by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with senior Pakistani officials and Chinese diplomats.

In a cultural gesture, children in traditional Pakistani dress greeted the minister with flowers, symbolizing the deep bond between the two nations.

At a joint press conference, Ishaq Dar said that both sides discussed every aspect of their relations, especially the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He confirmed that Pakistan is fully committed to moving forward with CPEC’s second phase and to deepening people-to-people exchanges with China.

Dar also thanked Beijing for supporting Pakistan’s sovereignty and stressed that both nations want peace and prosperity in the region.

Wang Yi said China views Pakistan as a trusted ally and that the two sides share common goals of stability and development. He highlighted the importance of advancing CPEC and called the partnership a “strategic” one that continues to grow stronger.

During his visit, Wang Yi will meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir. These meetings will focus on trade, security, defence, and cooperation on global issues.

The visit is part of regular high-level exchanges between the two countries and is seen as a reaffirmation of their “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.” Both sides are expected to underline their support for each other on core issues and commit to working together for regional peace and stability.
