Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, in Islamabad during his official visit. The meeting was confirmed by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

According to the statement, both leaders held detailed talks on regional security, counter-terrorism, and other matters of common interest. They also agreed to strengthen the “all-weather strategic partnership” between China and Pakistan.

Wang Yi assured Beijing’s full support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, stability, and development. The COAS thanked China for its long-standing friendship and assistance. The meeting ended with a joint commitment to advance peace and stability in the region.

This meeting followed Wang Yi’s engagements with Pakistan’s top leadership, including the Prime Minister, President, and Deputy Prime Minister. A day earlier, he also co-chaired the 6th Strategic Dialogue with Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

During the dialogue, both sides reviewed the full range of Pakistan-China ties. They discussed CPEC 2.0, trade, economic cooperation, multilateral issues, and cultural exchanges.

Deputy PM Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan and China enjoy complete consensus on all major issues. He welcomed China’s vision to expand the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) into its next phase.

Wang Yi described CPEC as the “cornerstone” of bilateral relations. He said the new phase will focus on creating a growth corridor, livelihood-enhancing corridor, green corridor, and open corridor.

The Chinese FM also stressed on expanding industrial, agriculture, and mining cooperation. He highlighted that projects like Gwadar Port development, Karakoram Highway realignment, and ML-1 railway are top priorities. China also welcomed third-party participation in these projects.
